    Lies Aspies tell themselves

1 I'm too different to make a difference

The container principle: one is made for salt, another for salad.

Here's a life principle everyone needs to learn:
Only people who think differently can make a difference.

Complementarian perspective: check out the bowl in your cabinet

2 I have no options (and, therefore, no opportunities)

Everyone has choices and everyone has limitations.
The challenge is to identify the "scope of transition"
    You may have other limitations,
but you also have a broad scope of transition.
The traction principle: Imagine yourself in traction

    3 Failure is harmful

    Failure is essential for advancement.
    Test marketing.
Much of what we learn comes from experiencing failure.
Few cooks make a perfect cake on the first try.

4 I'm entrapped by [hurtful people, circumstances]

Much of the entrapment is in our minds, not chains on our hands.
    The Elvis principle: Suspicious Minds.
Written and recorded by Mark James
    Principle: Let Elvis try it

    5 I'm not good enough

    What is good enough?
I'm not good enough to play NBA basketball, etc.
When we measure ourselves by our limitations,
    we will go nowhere.
But when we evaluate our potential,
    we can't be stopped.
    Gerry Dorsey (Arnold) "Release Me"

6 I don't have enough [time, talent, friends, money]

    That is relative
I live in the center of the greatest society in world history
I have central air, heating, plumbing, transportation, etc.
We tend to focus on what we don't have and ignore what we have.
Principle: Change your point of reference

7 My past predicts my future

This is true to some point.
Consider your past as the boot camp that prepared you
    Learning you limitations
For example: My past experience taught me that I'm not good at sales
What you eat today, you wear tomorrow

    8 I need no one

Living alone on an island or in a forest is a wonderful fantasy
But the reality is much different: We need others
Whatever you're doing right now would not be possible
    without others
Imagine living alone: no clothes, no language, no instruction
