As a result of the heavy rains that affected the state of Aragua on Monday, the El Castaño river overflowed in the north of Maracay, Venezuela, causing floods and several streets flooded by water.

The force of the water caused a great current that took the streets and dragged mud, trees and rocks. The muddy water reached the roof of several houses and destroyed the fence.

Through social networks, users spread videos and images of the overflow where vehicles could be seen that were dragged by the force of the current.

Local media reported that access to the main avenues in the urbanization of El Castaño was restricted. In addition, the Palmarito dam also overflowed , which generated a large flow of water down the street.

Meanwhile, the incessant rainfall also left areas such as Caña de Azúcar, Las Acacias, Centro and Andrés Bello without electricity.

The rains of recent weeks have caused damage throughout the country, especially in Aragua. In the town of Las Tejerías, in the east of the state, a landslide caused the destruction of hundreds of homes.
