Our hike to Welch Spring, Jadwin, 8th Largest spring in Missouri

This is our video of our Hike to Welch Spring. Back in 1913, A doctor purchased the property and built a hospital type spa resort. He believed the air coming from the adjacent cave would be beneficial for people with asthma, emphysema, and tuberculosis. He tried building a campground to help offset costs but roads weren’t that great so people couldn’t get around too easily so it didn’t go that well. The Doctor died in 1940 and his kids just let the property go. That would have been such a great property now. It is now a National Park for which I am greatly appreciative. The cave is gated to protect the bats.
The spring puts out 105 million gallons of water daily. This spring is the 8th largest spring in Missouri. It’s 130 feet deep and has been entered for 1500 feet. It’s a very beautiful area that we highly recommend exploring! It’s a very easy hike.
