When you get this tool in your hands, you can really feel the power of the Leatherman Surge. It's a big, heavy, tough tool that has some great capabilities and a good deal of versatility. Not as much versatility as some of it's smaller, lighter weight brothers, however. The Wave, which is almost 4 ounces less, is much easier to carry every day, or in a backpacking situation. If you're comfortable relegating this 12.5 ounce tool to a kit that requires less mobility (an emergency car kit, for instance), I think it will serve you very well.
