Indoctrination at it's finest. The Declaration did not declare this as a nation but as 13 independent states controlled by 13 tyrants instead of one tyrant 3000 miles away. It wasn't until November that the states united under the Articles of Confederation: "Article I. The Stile of this confederacy shall be, “The United States of America.”" The constitution was a political coup and happened in 1787, was ratified by coercion and fraud by bypassing the Confederation congress for the purpose of the elite and crooks, Robert Morris comes to mind for the purpose of mercantilism and other fraudulent schemes. Bottom line, this nation has never been free and probably never will be. But now, a tyrant worse than King George III. From the 1776 constitution of North Carolina as it best proves the point: "And whereas, the Continental Congress having considered the Premises, and other previous Violations of the Rights of the good People of America, have therefore declared, that the Thirteen United Colonies are of Right wholly absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, or any other foreign jurisdiction whatsoever, and that the said Colonies are, and forever shall be, free and independent States. Wherefore, in our present State, in order to prevent Anarchy and confusion, it becomes necessary that Government should be established in this State; therefore, we, the Representatives of the Freemen of North Carolina, chosen and assembled in Congress for the express Purpose of framing a Constitution under the authority of the People, most conducive to their Happiness and Prosperity, do declare that a Government for this State shall be established in manner and Form following,...". Freemen of the State of North Carolina was not only very presumptuous of them but downright fraudulent of them to presume freemen ruling themselves would be objectionable. By the way, with this document they declared all property was under their control and they had to be paid when prior to their declaration property was in nature and claimed by the labor of those settling it.
