Regina Dugan, the former head of DARPA (Office of Advanced Research Projects of the U.S. Department of Defense), who ran the Advanced Technology and Projects Laboratory at Google and now holds a similar position at Meta (Facebook), wants people to swallow identification microchips.

She explains how the device works when it's inside a person's body. A chip with a switch is embedded in a regular pill. When a person swallows it, the acids in their stomach act as an electrolyte that begins to power the chip, which begins to turn on and off, generating an 18-bit ECG signal in the human body so that it becomes fully authenticated.
