In fact, for every innovative .410, 20, 16, or 10 ga. ammo-type, there are AT LEAST 25 different 12 ga. options. In many countries, a shotgun is the only type of gun you can own. Since necessity is the mother of invention, this has inspired the development of very advanced ammo. The banning of lead has also spurred innovation, so ammo is being made of other materials like brass, copper, steel, aluminum and plastic. Most of the "cool stuff" is only made in 12ga. but as you can see, some is available in other calibers.
