Ascension Thursday: The saints are in heaven because they thought about it, desired it and longed for it while they still walked on this earth. Some longed for it so much that they started to float off the ground toward heaven even before death. Do we long for heaven? Have we flown their in our hearts and minds through meditation? St. John of the Cross teaches that any temptation or difficulty of this life, no matter how strong or powerful, can be overcome by making acts of anagogical love (acts of love that place us in heaven before God and the saints). Let us make these acts frequently...even daily, and we will pave the way for the day when our bodies really do die. Then we will wake up to find ourselves where our heart has been all along... heaven with Our Blessed Lord, the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints to praise and love God for all eternity.
