The methods of meditation are varied. However, the one big one in particular is simply, with eyes closed, be still, can lay or sit, (try be in a quiet place, probably not very bright either, to a dim, to dark environment, whatever you prefer), just keep the silence, hold the aware state, getting out of all thought, agitation... You ought to be relaxed, at ease... It is said then that in the silence, the Spirit remembers Itself... You just need to hold the alert (out of thought-absorption, aware, present) state.

There are also other methods, but that I'd say is the most direct one... The aim is to get beyond the mind, all thought... Try it.

I must add, key to success is morality, purity, and continence -- celibacy. What could be considered reasonable authorities (sources), say to avoid drinking and drugs, that being harmful to the auric field/non-physical aspects.
So is sexual indulgence, it is a loss of material substance and weakening.

The Truth is found within, you don't need to go out there... Not in 'teachers', 'gurus', books, opinions, psychedelics or deities.
