Texas Governor Greg Abbott has condemned President Biden for “going after” border patrol agents who allegedly whipped Haitian migrants despite new evidence suggesting those viral images were misconstrued.

“What the president said about going after the border patrol who were risking their lives and working so hard to try and secure the border,” he told Fox News.

“If he takes any action against them whatsoever I have worked side by side with those border patrol agents.

“I want them to know something - if they are at risk of losing their job at a president who is abandoning his duty to secure the border – you have a job in the state of Texas.

“I will hire you to help Texas secure our border.”

The comments come after images released from Del Rio showed border patrol agents whipping migrants as they attempted to cross the river.

The photos went viral and the Biden administration were criticised for allowing the inhumane behaviour.

President Joe Biden called the actions “outrageous”.

“I promise you those people will pay, there is an investigation underway and there will be consequences,” Mr Biden told the press.

After speculation over whether the images painted the full story, the photographer who took them confirmed late last week that he never saw any agents whipping migrants.

He said the split reigns on the horses misconstrued the photos.

The investigation carried out by The Secretary of Homeland Security is still going ahead.
