The fact that modest "restrictions" were placed on McCarrick by Benedict, and basically ignored, is BARELY covered by the media but the fact that Jorge came in and lifted them only comes from the Militant.

What is the balance of power?
The Communist Chinese do appear to have autonomy; if Rome were destroyed tomorrow they would still be a threat BUT if sane, honest human beings were able to cut off all of the secret aid keeping China a threat they could easily be dealt with.
Both "Wikileaks" and "mainstream media" are acknowledging that McCarrick was traveling for Rome and WITH the United States State Department to China.
This recalls the accusation by billionaire Guo Wengui (mentioned by Voris) that the Communists are greasing Jorge TWO BILLION annually; this shows who's really in control.
FASCINATING that one of the issues is "investiture": the Communists want the right to pick clergy.
It is an issue that has been around for over a MILLENNIUM because Roman Catholics are a massive army of insurgents and they receive their "marching orders" from their clergy.
Sadly, the Communist Chinese seem unaware of SAINT Thomas Becket who, although was mostly English and considered a coup by King Henry II quickly went all in for Rome once appointed to the (then OVERTLY Catholic office of) Archbishop of Caterbury which then precipitated his demise and "Sainthood" as well as the generational handing over of Britain by Henry and his son John to Rome.
They likely won't be getting the bang for their billions that they expect but Catholics in China really will suffer just as Rome wants them to.
Oh, as more proof of who is really behind all this and who really has the power? Guess who Guo Wengui likes to pal around with while they yacht and eat caviar? Jesuit-trained Goldman Sachs man and frequent visitor to Rome, Steven Kevin Bannon (the same guy who took over for Andrew Breitbart after his unfortunate accide--ah, I mean "heart attack".)
Looks like they're also managing "Hong Kong protests" together as well.
It's therefore no coincidence that I first saw Wengui's accusation on "GloriaTV", the OVERTLY Roman Catholic video hub that needed to be free of all that "censorship" from the COVERTLY Catholic YouTube.

McCarrick was forced by pedo "allegations" to "retire". He wasn't prosecuted AND HE CONTINUED TO WORK FOR THE U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT at EIGHTY THREE in 2014.
McCarrick State Department (CIA) work goes as far back as 1975 assisting Cardinal Terence Cooke of New York in bringing Vietnamese to the U.S. through "Catholic Relief Services." He very well may have brought in police officer Tou Thao to Minneapolis.
2007: McCarrick was also involved with Israel on behalf of the United States government.
2007: McCarrick talked "refugees" with Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
He had a long list of trips to Indonesia and China.
2009: McCarrick and Nancy Pelosi worked with Bishop Aloysius Jin (not the Muslim demon "jin"...or maybe he is), a Chinese Jesuit.
2011: McCarrick went to Iran to secure the release of "spying U.S. hikers".
