Yesterday I experienced my first squib ever, and it was with one of my hand loads. The worst part about this is that I did not notice it when I shot it. The only thing that saved me from having a pipe bomb was that the bullet did not move far enough into the barrel to allow me to chamber the next round. I consider myself very lucky. I most likely did not put any powder into the case. Something I’ve caught myself doing more than once, but I didn’t catch it this time. This was a potentially very dangerous brain fart on my part. This is most of the reason that I hesitate to load for semi-auto guns.
