SINCE THE 1980s I HAD PROPERTIES FOR RENT IN NEW JERSEY. I THOUGHT I WAS GETTING A GOOD DEAL, BUT SOON I WAS CONSTANTLY INVOLVED IN SITUATIONS LIKE THE ONES DESCRIBED IN THIS VIDEO. PEOPLE COMING TO ME, LOOKING FOR A NON EXPENSIVE PLACE TO LIVE AND AFTER A FEW WEEKS THEY STOPPED PAYING RENT AND BECOMING SQUATTERS. BY LAW THEY WERE CONSIDERED "TENANTS" AND I HAD TO GIVE THEM 30 DAYS NOTICE TO VACATE. IF THEY DIDN'T LEAVE AFTER 30 DAYS, I HAD TO GO TO COURT, PAY FEES TO START A LANDLORD-TENANT CASE, THE COURT COULD TAKE MONTHS BEFORE A COURT DATE AND SOME OF THOSE SQUATTERS FALSELY ACCUSED ME OF SOME "VIOLATIONS" AND ASKING THE JUDGE THAT I PAY THEM RELOCATION COSTS AND SOME MONTHS OF RENT. IN THOSE CASES, I HAD TO HIRE LAWYERS. IT WAS PAINFUL AND EXPENSIVE AND AT THE END I WON THE CASES BUT THEY STAYED UNTIL THE VERY LAST MINUTE WHEN THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT SENT NOTICE OF EVICTION. THE WHOLE PROCESS COULD TAKE MANY MONTHS AND IN THE MEANTIME THEY WERE LIVING FOR FREE. SOMETIMES THOSE WERE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS, THEY COULD KILL ME AND AS OF NOW, THINGS ARE GETTING WORSE WITH THE INVASION OF ILLEGALS. BACK IN 2007, I WAS SICK AND TIRED OF IT, I RETIRED AND MOVED TO A U.S. TERRITORY IN THE CARIBBEAN, NO NEED FOR HEAT AND NO PROPERTY TAXES ON MY MAIN HOME.
