VIDEO: Sen. Murkowski Questioned by Project Veritas Action Journalist on Staying ‘Quiet’ During the Approval Process of Ranked-Choice Voting in Alaska, Measure Allegedly Ensured She Would Be ‘Re-Elected’

• Project Veritas Action press secretary RC Maxwell approached Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and her campaign’s Comms Director, Shea Siegert, to ask them about the recent revelations made by her paid campaign staff members affirming that Ballot Measure 2 [Ranked-Choice Voting] was designed to keep the incumbent Senator in office.
• Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK): “Ballot Measure 2 was an initiative led by the people in the state of Alaska.”
• Sen. Murkowski: “[The] ballot initiative made it through the Alaska process, and you have the results that you have.”
• Sen. Murkowski: “All of us here in this state now are living with a new system, and it’s new for all of us.”
• Shea Siegert, Sen. Murkowski Campaign, Communications Director: “I did” previously work to pass Ballot Measure 2 and currently work for Murkowski’s re-election campaign.

[ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Aug. 10, 2022] Project Veritas Action released another video today which shows Alaska Senator, Lisa Murkowski, responding to our journalist’s questions on her campaign’s alleged conflict of interest with the recent law that installed ranked-choice voting in the state.

Sen. Murkowski provided polished statements to the PVA journalist and did not address the statements made by her own staffers on video.

“Ballot Measure 2 [ranked-choice voting] was an initiative led by the people in the state of Alaska,” Sen. Murkowski said.

“[The] ballot initiative made it through the Alaska process, and you have the results that you have,” she said.

“All of us here in this state now are living with a new system, and it’s new for all of us.”

Also present was Sen. Murkowski Campaign’s Comms Director, Shea Siegert, who acknowledged that he, himself, was involved with Ballot Measure 2 a few years ago and now works in the Senator’s re-election campaign.

In a video released earlier by Project Veritas Action, two paid Murkowski staffers mentioned Siegert by name, saying that he played a key role in ensuring the passage of ranked-choice voting in Alaska.

One of the recorded staffers even said that the campaign became familiar with Siegert because of his work on Ballot Measure 2.

RC MAXWELL, PROJECT VERITAS ACTION, PRESS SECRETARY: You worked on Ballot Measure 2 as well, correct?

SHEA SIEGERT, SEN. MURKOWSKI CAMPAIGN, COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR: I did.

MAXWELL: And you’re also Ms. Murkowski’s Comms Director. You’re just saying that this was a ballot measure voted on by the people. I’m telling you that your staffers are saying that this was on the ballot by an effort of Murkowski-affiliated-

SIEGERT: Absolutely not.

MAXWELL: The fact that Rachel Kallander, yourself, Jackson; there are multiple staff members who worked on Ballot Measure 2 and also on your campaign.

SIEGERT: Thank you.

MAXWELL: You want security to clear me out, but you don’t want to answer my question, sir?

Project Veritas Action also reached out to Siegert for comment via email. He has not responded to that request.
