I like this idea.
I wonder if something similar had been 'worked out' right-about the debut of smokeless powder to the international community? Seems something like this could've been loaded standard, or ever-other/3rd/etc. round on the BP-designed Maxim and other experimental BP-MGs.
Historically, smokeless' availability put a kibosh to many projects trying to make military-reliable Repeating Black Powder Arms and munitions; primarily in addressing fouling. These days, the Black Powder market seems to be mostly hunters and recreational shooters. Perhaps, innovations of old (with new materials and design insights) may prove welcomed for the modern BP shooter.
