Nevada Earthquake Today: Magnitude 4.4 earthquake strikes South Lake Tahoe, Carson City, California

The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 4.1 quake in the United States near Carson City, Carson City County, Nevada. The earthquake hit in the morning on Friday 28 May 2021 at 8:25 am local time at a very shallow depth of 1.2 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.4 earthquake. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 4.1.
In Dollar Point, located 5 miles from the epicenter, and Kings Beach, 7 miles away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
Weak shaking might have been felt in South Lake Tahoe, located 14 miles from the epicenter, Carson City, 15 miles away, and Truckee, 15 miles away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Reno, located 30 miles from the epicenter, Sparks, 32 miles away, and Sun Valley, 35 miles away.
