Huge Waves Cause Flooding in Manado, Sulawesi, Indonesia - Jan. 17, 2021.mp4

Video of the Manado Town Square (Mantos) shopping center, Manado , North Sulawesi, hit by a viral flood on social media. The flood turned out to be from tidal waves near the location.

This news was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Kombes Jules Abraham Abast. The flood is thought to be due to extreme weather and high sea waves.

"Yes, the info (floods in Mal Mantos) is like that, maybe by chance the sea waves are rising and rising in an extreme way," said Jules, when contacted, Sunday (17/1/2021).

Jules said that the location of the Mantos Mall happened to be on the coast so that it was submerged by tidal floods. Even so, he confirmed that the incident that allegedly occurred this afternoon was only the phenomenon of the tidal sea.
