Gov. Kay Ivey signs Alabama Second Amendment Protection Act

Gov. Kay Ivey released a statement Wednesday afternoon announcing she signed Senate Bill 2, also known as the Alabama Second Amendment Protection Act, sponsored by Sen. Gerald Allen (R – SD21).

The bill prohibits the state and political subdivisions of the state, and their law enforcement officers, agents, and employees, from participating in the implementation or enforcement of any federal act, law, order, rule, or regulation relating to firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition. It also provides criminal penalties for a violation.

Gov. Kay Ivey signs bill preventing removal of historic monuments

Gov. Kay Ivey this week signed a bill preventing cities from removing most monuments 20 years and older.

Eileen Jones, a spokeswoman for Ivey, confirmed that she had signed the legislation Wednesday. Ivey's move comes amid an ongoing national debate over the purpose of Confederate monuments, and puts a period on a lengthy debate in the state Legislature where critics said the bill preserved monuments that celebrated Alabama's shameful history of slavery and segregation.

‘Schools are becoming indoctrination centers for cultural radicals,’ says AFA Executive Vice President

“When almost three out of every four parents say they are extremely or very concerned about what’s being taught in public schools, it’s a clear indication that the education system in America is seriously warped,” Vitagliano said. “Parents are starting to see that the schools are becoming indoctrination centers for cultural radicals instead of being centers of education. Moreover, adults are also increasingly concerned that these same schools are ignoring parental objections. It’s time for radical changes all right — just not the kind imagined by the cultural Marxists.”

Danielle Smith would be good for Alberta — and the Canadian federation as a whole

That’s one way to look at it. Here’s a different take: Smith has the necessary qualities to become a top-flight premier, defeat Notley’s NDP and become an important anchor for conservatism and libertarianism in Canada.

I’ve known Smith for over 25 years. She and I started out in politics and punditry at roughly the same time. Our careers were similar at points, and diverged at others. Through it all, Smith has utilized her intelligence, wit and political savvy to become a powerful voice in politics (former Wildrose leader and MLA), radio (former 770 CHQR host) and think tanks (Fraser Institute, Canadian Federation of Independent Business).
