An electrical fire broke out during mass as 5,000 people gathered at the Coptic Abu Sifin ( Al mounira ) church in the Imbaba neighbourhood on Sunday, as the sources said.
Officials say the number of dead is at least 41, with dozens injured. Children are believed to be among the dead.
The fire blocked an entrance to the church, causing a stampede which caused of many victims.
