Though they take solace in the fact that he has been in a host of incredible movies, giving incredible performances for several decades. Hackman’s career took off in the late ‘60s and early ’70s, and never really dipped. He consistently played roles that won him fans, adoration, and awards. He’s a 5 time Oscar nominee, with two wins under his belt. But did you know that these days, Hackman is living out his retirement in the sleepy town of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Recently, photos of him pulling into a gas station in his truck were pushed out to social media, where they went viral. The photos, which showed Gene pulling in with his Toyota Tundra, emerging for a fill-up and some food in the shop, and heading out, weren’t scandalous or even that interesting in and of themselves. But they went viral because it was the first time he’s been seen in public in a while, and because fans were perhaps surprised to see the veteran actor in a vehicle that wasn’t a luxury car.

Instead, Gene is a man of the people, driving a truck around, pumping his own gas, and grabbing some tasty treats from a gas station.
