My initial impressions of this semi-auto pistol were high. Grip is on the big side, but still manageable. Good Finish and Fit overall. After shooting, I'm overly not impressed. Not with the cartridge, but the gun itself. It's not a left handed gun. Slide and mag release are right under your trigger finger. Mags do not drop free, and the follower doesn't move very freely inside the mag body.
You can see in a couple shots the mag does drop from the gun while firing.
It took me quite a while to shoot 20 rounds through Automag V. At one point the grip screws became loose and they hold the trigger bar spring in place (from moving out), and caused the trigger to go dead. 20 seconds later the spring was in working order, and we were back in business.
Recoil is very mangeable for the size of this gun and cartridge. Recoil is mild and blunt like a .45ACP, but a more decent sized "KICK". Not sharp recoil at all compare to say .44 Magnum from a revolver. Gloves in my case weren't needed to shoot the gun, like my dad said I would :|
Brass got mangled up quite a few times because the slide didn't lock back again because of the mag follower. I think this thing woulld be good as a safe queen, or to let your friends shoot 1-2 rounds out of it, for giggles.
I'll have to get my hands on a Desert Eagle and see how it compares.
