.308 Reloads First Reloads, First Shots
In this video I take my Savage Hog Hunter in .308 to the range to shoot my first ever reloads. I did some editing and speeding up of the video to get rid of my brain farts. This is actually my second trip to the range with reloads, but the first trip was unsuccessful as I had no idea where the bullets went at 100 yards. I pulled the targets into 50 yards for this video. My first range trip used 38 grains of powder. I think they were shooting high. In this video I shoot 5 rounds with 39 grains of powder, 5 rounds of 39.5 grains of powder and 5 rounds with 40 grains of powder. I liked what I got with the 40 grain loads and will load some at 40 grains and some at 40.5 grains and take the target back out to 100 yards.
Be sure and watch the video all the way thru cause for the last few minutes of the video I show the neat little Lee Loader tool I used to load these rounds. It’s just a quick overview of the tool and showing one round being loaded. I’ve loaded 30 rounds with this little Lee Loading kit, but after the experience with this tool, I decided to dive right into reloading and bought a press, a Lee Breech Lock Classic Single Stage Press. That will make reloading go faster and be a little more accurate.
