This time we take an in-depth look at how to create a very well balanced and effective #4 lead buckshot load for the 10 gauge. I cover components and loading technique. Then we take the loads to the range and put them on the pattern board.

10 gauge is serious business.
Have you compared it to 3.5 “ magnum?

If so, which do you feel Is favorable and why?

Thank you in advance.

I have shot both the 3-1/2" 10ga Magnums and the 12ga Supermagnums fairly extensively, and can tell you that the 10ga outclasses the 12ga in almost every way. 12ga Supermag comes close to a lot of optimized 10ga loads, but it just can't do the same for large pellets or maximum shot charges. To get the most out of your 10ga though you have to handload or invest in buying loads like those offered by War Wolf Ordnance. The 10ga guns' heavy weight also make them much superior to launch the heavy loads when compared to the lightweight 12ga guns.
