Yes! the Russians were the first to fake space walks!
This is the official first Russian space walk! But it has been digitally altered a decade ago. It used to have a completely opaque black helmet glass. But NOW you can see a face in there! This face was retouched into the film. But what you might find even more fascinating is that the Russians used a fairly large stop motion doll to create their effect. They made the mistake of over-stuffing the gloves with cotton. And the material stretched over time. This was filmed over a long period of time. It was too late for them to change anything as they were in the middle of "stop motion photography" behind a blue-screen background for simple chromakeying the same way as Mary Poppins and the penguins segment was made.
Yes the entire character is a "DOLL" with a wire stuck in it's back bolted to a backboard to keep suspended in place. Notice his arms are unaturally flailing around to give him some semblance of life.
They then took some cardboard bent it up abit, painted it up with water colors, then panned the camera across it! LOL! This is still in the video.
Don't believe me? Do yourself a favor and replay that last bit over a couple times.
'And this is the Russian's flag ship achievement!!!!
