Dr Ramani does some amazing work on this topic. I believe we are in a pandemic of narcissism fueled by the advent of social media. I think the prospect of "becoming known" on a wide scale or even famous to a degree is causing people to act very differently and we are seeing the destruction of decency as a result.

When I realized it wasn't me, it was my mother, She could never physically or verbally hurt me again. I was 15.
