A century ago, the #proton was believed to be a single #particle of a positive charge. 50 years ago, the proton was found to be made of three smaller particles, known as #quarks. Recently, it was found to be five quarks. Yet other observations of particles that decay from the proton, or its atomic nucleus partner the #neutron, never show quarks. #Electrons, #positrons and #neutrinos are ejected from these particles. Hmmm... what's really inside the proton? And what are quarks?
