Interestingly, Water Island is home to Fort Segarra, a US military fort created during WWII to serve as a lookout for the submarine base on nearby St. Thomas. This detail is intriguing due to Ghislaine being a licensed submersible pilot, and founding her ocena preservation project TerraMar in partnership with the Clinton Global Initiative.
