Forestry Consultant John Clarke says Western Australia’s timber industry is “gutted” by Premier Mark McGowan’s decision to ban native forest logging from 2024.

Mr Clarke told Sky News host Peta Credlin his forestry professional colleagues in WA and across the country are “flabbergasted” by Mr McGowan’s decision.

He pointed out all the harvesting operations in WA are “certified to almost every environmental and chain of custody standard in the world”.

“So frankly, we just don’t know why the premier’s made this decision.”
