US Paratroopers Seize Airfield In Bulgaria – Joint Forcible Entry Operation Exercise

U.S. Army Paratroopers from 173rd Airborne Brigade, along with allied NATO airborne units, conducted a Joint Forcible Entry exercise onto Bezmer Air Base, Bulgaria. As a part of exercise Saber Guardia 2017, the goal is to demonstrate an airfield seizure operation that will then allow for the “all wheeled” Second Cavalry Regiment to “build up combat power” and prepare for follow-on operations.

Saber Guardian is an annual, multinational exercise held in the Black Sea Region to assure Allies and Partners of the ironclad commitment of the United States.
