Ukrainian soldiers fire US supplied M777 howitzer at Russian positions on Donbas frontline
Soldiers fire M-777 howitzers produced and supplied by the US.
Ukrainian servicemen can be seen loading an artillery gun, taking aim and firing on the frontline in the Donbas region.
"It (the M-777) is easier to work with, it is lighter, easier to position at any spot, prepare for combat, load and fire," Dmytro, a 37-year-old Ukrainian soldier manning the live position said.
Ukraine has deployed many of its new M-777 howitzers at the front lines in the east of the country. The system is seen as particularly significant because of its long range and accuracy.
Washington has delivered 90, Canada 4 and Australia 6 M-777 artillery pieces to the Ukrainian armed forces since April, according to the Ukrainian Defence Ministry sources.
Canada said it will provide 10 replacement barrels for the M-777 artillery guns to replace any worn out during firing. M-777 artillery system should have the barrel replaced after firing up to 2,500 rounds.
