TopHobbyTrains Intermountain N Scale SD40-2T LokSound DCC Sound
We had a chance to revisit our sound package for the time tested Intermountain SD40-2 locomotives and update our project file. This video is the result of to installs in the locomotive. For the Cotton Belt on the left we used the LokSound ver 4 micro and uploaded our custom sound mix with the latest base file from Matt over at ESU. The file features the EMD 645E with dual start. From there we remix many different sounds and functions to come up with a great sounding and looking decoder. The Cotton belt loco uses each of the 6 available function outputs in conjunction with 2 of our logic output extenders. The loco on the right is a Denver and Rio Grande SD40-2T and accepts the same basic THT project. Both locomotives have Gyra lights and we light each separately from the headlight. Of course THT provides custom programming to allow various light operation 'on the fly' including continuous flash or grade crossing activation. The Cotton Belt loco also has a dummy red emergency light on the nose that we drilled out and added one of our THT SMD red LED assemblies. Just another detail that we take pride in. These locos were specified with roof beacons and these were custom modeled with our 'on the fly' operation also. Notice that the flash between loco is not the same. Another small detail that we take into account when creating our one of a kind models.
One thing to note is that sound decoders are sensitive to oxidation and dirty tracks so cleanliness is a must!
