TopHobbyTrains Atlas N Scale GP38 LokSound DCC Souind and Light

This video is of the Atlas N Scale GP38 with the LokSound Micro ver4 DCC Sound decoder installed by TopHobbyTrains.
The model was done several months ago and required service and cleaning. One of the things that is imperative for DCC Sound is plenty of power, clean tracks, clean wheels, and clean locomotive contacts. While it may not be apparent the contact strips in the locomotive do get oxidized and this can cause intermittent power pickup from the truck to the frame. The truck axle cups also become dirty and oxidized. This usually causes the annoying stopping and starting of the locomotive due to power loss to the decoder.
The video was taken after we dissembled the loco & trucks and cleaned all of the electrical pickup components. This does eliminate most of the electrical drops.
Over the years we have tried many different track cleaning tools but have settled on the CMX clean machine with the ACT track cleaning fluid to clean and condition the layout rails. Nothing is perfect but operation is greatly improved after this procedure is done. Our track is over 40 years old in many placed on the layout and cleaning is a necessary chore.
