Attorney General Merrick B. Garland claimed serious allegations against the Georgia state legislature for creating this new law. AG Garland delivered remarks explaining the reasoning behind the lawsuit:

"Our complaint alleges that recent changes to Georgia’s election laws were enacted with the purpose of denying or abridging the right of black Georgians to vote on account of their race or color in violation of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act."

ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchison debunked this allegation:

"There is not a scintilla of evidence in support of Merrick Garland’s claim. Indeed, in Georgia it is easier for African Americans to vote than African Americans in Delaware [Biden’s home state] and many other states. In Georgia, they have expanded the hours of voting, they are allowing absentee voting, they are simply ensuring greater election integrity and election security."

The ACLJ represents a nurse who worked at the University of Vermont Medical Center (UVMC) and had a conscience objection to participating in abortion procedures. Our client was forced to participate in an abortion procedure despite her objections.

Late last year, President Trump's Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against UVMC for violating her conscience protections. However, sadly, just this week the Biden Department of Justice has dropped the lawsuit. This is a clear and chilling signal that the Biden administration plans to not enforce the protections afforded by law to pro-life doctors and nurses.

The ACLJ has filed a new lawsuit in federal court on behalf of a church we represent – Alive Church of the Nazarene. This lawsuit is a religious land use/zoning case we are bringing under the federal Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act (RLUIPA) statutes and the United States Constitution.

The church was told they must get a liquor license to use their own land for worship. This is absurd especially considering the church doesn't even use wine in their communion.

We haven’t seen numbers like this in 21 years at the border. In July alone, Customs and Border Protection encountered approximately 200,000 people at our southern border – the highest number since the year 2000.

Biden's border policies are failing in grand fashion. But now, the Biden Administration’s big idea to solve the crisis is to bring in taxpayer-funded attorneys to represent the illegal immigrants in their removal proceedings. This would be a special provision for illegal immigrants, a provision not even afforded to taxpaying, legal citizens of the United States.

It’s beyond frustrating how President Biden is using our tax dollars to cover for obviously bad policy. But further, begs the question, will this move not simply incentivize even greater numbers of illegal border crossings? Don’t worry if you’re caught, the U.S. will pay for your lawyer.
