The sap wood carries the water thru the tree.species thickness varies some.sap wood is under bark before core wood.your idea a bout water traveling to burn tree isn't right.water is in sap wood.sap wood and bark are only part of tree not burnt.i think a positive and negative grounding makes more sense.the bark is the most flammable part of a living tree.why didn't bark burn? The tree fire theory is ass backwards.there had to of been massive amounts of electricity in that area.fires can be started thru homes wires.not that wiring if faulty.wires just targeted by outside source of high voltage electricity.like a DEW weapon or try to map out all the 5g towers where fires were worse.look at the live weather maps of area during that time.Good luck guys,thanks
