THE HOLY SPIRIT Part 4: The Baptism of the Holy Spirit
While many people today receive John's baptism of repentance, they are either ignorant or ignore the fact there is also a baptism of Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit. This was made evident when Philip preached to the Samaritans.
As a result, the church in Jerusalem sent Peter and John to make sure that Jesus' instructions were carried out. What happened next contradicts what many denominations believe today. The Samaritans were Christians but they were not baptized in the Holy Spirit.
We know this because they received the Holy Spirit the moment Peter and John laid hands on them. The same thing happened when Paul came to Ephesus. This makes it clear that salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit are two distinct events.
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is so important that Jesus barred the disciples from witnessing until they had received it. The Holy Spirit will equip you with power so that you can live a victorious life in Christ Jesus, positively impacting your ability to witness, pray, teach, praise God, and receive guidance from the Lord. Seeking the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a no-brainer since this is what Jesus told us to do.
