THE CHOSEN: DALLAS JENKINS & The MORMON CHURCH

THE CHOSEN streaming TV series is an incredibly popular entertainment venue among evangelical Christians, Catholics, and people from many faiths. It is an unprecedented success in crowd-funded programming! But underneath the trumpeting of popularity some dark connections lurk. Should sincere, trusting Believers support this attempt to mainstream the story of Yeshua’s (Jesus Christ’s) life-or not?

Dr. William Schnoebelen, N.D., brings Scriptural light to this question. While acknowledging the excellent production quality of the work (acting, music, etc.) he points out that not only are members of the LDS (Mormon) church involved in the production and distribution of THE CHOSEN, but Dallas Jenkins, the producer/director has made it VERY CLEAR: I WILL GO DOWN SWINGING FOR MY LDS BROTHERS SISTERS, along with very public and favorable comments about the Mormon Church!

But are Mormons REALLY our brothers in Messiah? Dallas says they are, even though he is an evangelical Christian and has been through college level classes in Biblical theology and comparative religions. He stated that he will “sink or swim” on his belief that LDS people are true Christians.

SO WHAT does Dr. Bill (a former LDS elder and elder’s quorum president) have to say about this? Should Christians link hands with people who are manifest heretics (like the LDS Church) in order to raise funds and facilitate the spread of the Gospel? Or is this dangerous hypocrisy (Deuteronomy 23:18)? Don’t be hoodwinked about Mormonism being Christian, and Mormons believing in the same ‘Jesus’ as those who declare their Salvation is bought by the Blood of Yeshua!
