The Ascension Shows Up from Down God's Three Storied Creation

In preparing the people of old for the coming of His Majesty, the Savior, St. John the Baptist made it clear that there is an UP and DOWN in God’s creation… an ABOVE and a BELOW in His salvific plan, proclaiming: “He that cometh from above is above all. He that is of the earth, of the earth he is, and of the earth he speaketh. He that cometh from heaven is above all” (John 3:31). The great precursor is saying—one of the first requirements for eternal life is knowing up from down. These two basic orientations, immediately evident to our senses, clearly mentioned throughout Divine Revelation, touch on everything that exists. When we keep to this Up and Down, this Above and Below, we have the required points of reference to make successfully the treacherous journey to the eternal shores of heaven. If, however, we give way to the new learning… the new ideas of a directionless, relativistic world… then we easily become like the astronauts who often find the weightlessness of space so disorienting, having to fight off motion sickness and other disorienting effects such as difficulty in sleeping. What is more, when there is no order, there is no reason to be subject to the Orderer! These directions are clearly established by His Majesty during His coming down from heaven in the Incarnation and later in His Passion, Death, Resurrection and Ascension into heaven.
