Indonesia’s Mount Ili Lewotolok volcano erupted, sending a plume of smoke and ash 2.5 miles into the sky.
The eruption led to the closure of the local airport and the creation of a 2.5 miles (4km) no-go zone around the crater.
Authorities say thousands of people sought refuge, but no casualties have been reported so far.
The volcano’s alert status has been raised to its second-highest level, with authorities warning of potential lava flows.
Indonesia has nearly 130 active volcanoes, more than any other country in the world.
