Dramatic aerial footage has revealed the extent of the flooding in Dumfries after a river burst its banks.
At around 1pm on Thursday emergency services warned residents that the banks of the River Nith, which runs throw the town, had burst.
A local captured shocking scenes from the sky as water poured out of the river and into surrounding streets.
John Blandford shared the drone footage online, which showed fast-moving water close to submerging some trees.
The four-minute clip reveals the extent of the flooding, with a number of homes and businesses affected by heavy rainfall.
The Whitesands area, which is shown in the video, has been closed off by emergency services.
Locals were warned not to enter Shakespeare Street and Irish Street. Further road closures were later put in place, on the A709, A712 and A713.
The B725 was also completely blocked after a landslide as heavy rain continued to batter the country.
Police added: "There's reports of extreme surface water on A75 throughout D&G.
"Please avoid the areas & find alternative routes if having to travel. Allow extra travel time & reduce your speed incase of lying surface water."
It comes as the Met Office issued a 'danger to life' amber warning which will last until midnight on Thursday with South West Scotland to be hit worst.
Emergency services in Hawick have now declared a major incident due to flooding in the Borders town.
Scottish Borders Council says SEPA projections indicate the River Teviot in Hawick would peak above three metres at around 4pm on Thursday, which could result in “significant damage” to properties in at-risk areas and “pose a risk to public safety."
The local authority’s flood team said this would potentially affect up to 500 properties in the town.
Police said officers are leading a multi-agency operation - alongside the fire service, council and NHS Borders - to evacuate buildings.
A decision was taken to close Trinity Primary School and Hawick High School and the health board decided to close Teviot Health Centre and all services operating within it.
