Savage MSR 15 Review- Nutnfancy
Savage has a way with barrels. Most of their guns I've tested shoot very accurately and their guns perform above their price level. Enter the Savage MSR-15 Patrol and Recon models, reviewed here. These Savage AR-15s enter a crowded market with such high value players as the Springfield Armory Saint, S&W M&P15 Sport II, Ruger AR556, and lots more. We cover a quality issue on the Patrol upper and it's discussed honestly. I count it as an anomaly from Savage but that upper failed to achieve good accuracy.
In the value department you'll get an upgraded handguard, BUIS, midlength gas system, good Blackhawk Axiom furniture, and a slightly better trigger on the "Recon" model [recommended]. The Patrol is a bit more basic but still good. Reliability was flawless unlike some other AR-15s tested [Ruger AR556] and the Recon model achieved sub MOA with 77 gr loads. For the low price paid the Savage AR-15s are a smart purchase.
