We have it multiple times a year in canary islands, and nothing happens. I still have my terrace tiles covered with with dust, and because it came with some rain, now it is a hit hard to wash away. Also, if it comes with rain it is bad for the veggies.

Yes, you guys are in the line of it's path most of the time. I have severe asthma and my lung capacity is only 40% so I can get affected when others don't even feel it. Heck, I can tell if a person is smoking a cigarette in the neighborhood cuz my lungs close up. No one else can smell the cigarette smoke. Glad you weren't affected in your health.
