Complete Terrapin Story ( A Sufi parable in Rumi style)

This version from the lyricist contains twice as much material as used in the GD versions.

Robert Hunter wrote three important GD songs in one sitting, in London on a park bench, over a bottle of port; Ripple, To Lay Me Down, & Brokedown Palace. The source for this account comes from

The song Terrapin Station was first performed by the grateful Dead on Feb. 26, 1977 at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California.

Oddly enough, on September 11, 1981, the auditorium was irreparably damaged when it was struck by a twin-engine Cessna T310P, registered N5705M, in an accident that killed the pilot and passenger, following which the building had to be demolished.
