U.S. President Joe Biden released on Saturday (February 6) video of a phone conversation he had with a woman who was laid off due to COVID, as part of his first weekly address.

While the weekly address has typically been used by presidents to deliver a several minute position on a particular topic, the Biden White House has said they plan to make future addresses more similar to a podcast experience.

During the edited exchange between the president and a woman identified only as Michele from California, Biden discussed his emergency relief package.

"We're putting together a plan that provides for emergency relief to people in desperate need. Now, everything from mortgage payments to unemployment insurance, rental subsidies to food security for children. It provides for small and medium sized businesses to be able to open," Biden said.
