This is a video response to the "Powder Coating Bullets On "Silicone" VS "Wire Mesh" ?" video posted by Elvis Ammo (https://youtu.be/coEneezUDO8).

I was surprised by the horrible results he experienced using a silicone mat, and decided to do my own mini-experiment to see if I could get similar or better results.

I really liked the 9mm load test, where do you get your powder for coating?

I got it from a company called Eastwood. The powder used in this video was their "Ford Light Blue" - http://www.eastwood.com/hotcoa....t-powder-ford-light-

How about taking some old 30 cal casings and attach them (braze, a screw through the primer hole, or what ever) to a metal sheet so they all stand up with resolve.
The only part without the powder coat will be the area under the gas check.

I would certainly be interested in seeing someone try that. I have seen guys buy some silicone ice cube trays that make little square cubes. The holes in these trays seem to be just the right size for holding the bullets up.

I think I saw recent Elvis Vid where he used a low temp oven for a longer period of time, maybe 250 degrees for an hour (can't remember)??? However... I'm a few weeks out from giving powder coating bullets a try, so my comments are baseless at this point but hope to learn from you guys...Thanks for posting your trials.

OK I found the Elvis Low Temp Video https://videos.utahgunexchange.....com/watch/powder-co He uses 275 degrees for 15 minutes of most lead as they break apart better. Maybe this would help???

@czBullshooter: This video was originally posted about a year ago. Elvis and I have both tested many methods since then, and it turns out that several of those methods work just fine. He actually still uses the wire baskets, and I am still using the same silicone mats. And we're both happy :)

I believe that your words, "everyone has to figure out what works best for them" sums up my years of reloading, helping others learn reloading and my little experience in PC. People need to have a healthy disrespect for their current process and keep trying new products and methods. cheers

Absolutely. I tend to be content with my results, but never fully content with my process.
