Peru Earthquake Today: Strong quake strikes southern Peru

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.2 struck the Tirapata region of southern Peru on Thursday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The quake was at a depth of 212km, USGS said.
The US Tsunami Warning System said there was no tsunami warning in place. There were no early reports of damage or casualties.
The quake swayed some buildings in La Paz, the capital of neighbouring Bolivia, as well as in Peruvian cities such as Arequipa, Tacna and Cusco, but local authorities and radio stations had no reports of damage or victims.
Earlier, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) pegged the quake at magnitude 7.0.
