PAUL: The Secret Story of Olympia's Satanic Sheriff
The Secret Story of Olympia's Satanic Sheriff" is an essay documentary by Nik Nerburn about Olympia's former sheriff, Paul Ingram. Paul was sent to jail in 1988 for sexually assaulting his daughters in satanic rituals, and is the only person in the modern era to have ever been accused of and confess to being a part of a satanic ritual abuse cult. The film explains the story through primary police documents, interrogation recordings and speculative dramatizations, probing at the symmetry between Paul’s unstable memory and our own civic forgetfulness. Through archival video and a 16mm historical walking tour, PAUL ultimately is concerned with the occult nature of memory and the very real monsters within ourselves.
