A good upkeep project, seasoning well-loved cast iron. Aside from a grill or my smoker, there is nothing I like to cook on more than my cast iron.

I don't let my cast iron get that bad. The frying pan was either over heated or never properly seasoned in the first place. Flax seed oil is not the best choice. Simple Crisco is the best. You don't need anything fancy. My cast iron has all been seasoned with Crisco for over 30 years and it is all flawless, tough as nails. Cast iron is much easier to use and maintain than many would have you believe.
