Palestine and Holy See flags raised at United Nations Geneva
For the first time, the flags of the Holy See and the State of Palestine were raised at the United Nations Office in Geneva.
Speaking at the flag-raising ceremony, Director-General Michael Moller said: "As we raise the flags of the Holy See and the State of Palestine today, we raise the hopes of the international community. Hope for peace, hope for inter-cultural dialogue, and in particular, hope for progress in the peace process in the Middle East.
"Let these flags, as they fly next to that of the United Nations, be a reminder that we must never lose faith."

The ceremony was organized in accordance with a resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly on 10 September, whereby the flags of non-member observer States can now be flown at United Nations headquarters and offices around the world.
The resolution was adopted by an overwhelming majority of Member States.
