Serena Williams is engaged to be married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian who popped the question during a surprise trip to Rome.
Williams, 35, shared the news by writing a poem on Reddit, revealing that Ohanian asked her to marry him at the table where they first met by chance.
Ohanian later commented on the poem, writing: 'And you made me the happiest man on the planet.
Williams was pictured arriving in New Zealand shortly after she made the announcement ready for the first tournament of the season next week.
She was snapped at Auckland Airport and on the court during a practice session.
In addition to wedding planning, Williams will also be chasing history this year as she hopes to become the first player in the Open Era to win 23 Grand Slams.
