Nepal- Thousands rally in support of PM Oli in Kathmandu.mp4

Thousands of people rallied in support of Nepalese Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and his Communist Party (NCP) in Kathmandu on Friday.

Demonstrators gathered in front of the city's Narayanhiti Palace, the seat of power of when Nepal was a monarchy until 2008. Oli supporters were seen chanting and waving NCP flags as they waited for the prime minister to address the rally.

Members of Nepal's Armed Police Force (APF) were also seen surveying the scene.

"This rally is to encourage people to participate in the upcoming elections," said NCP member Bishnu Sigdel.

Protests in Nepal have been growing since Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli dissolved parliament in December, leading to a major rift within the Communist Party.

This is how he addresses people; that is why because the opposition leaders Prachanda and Madhav Nepal have given a negative report on him to the people of Nepal, he is just doing this to make everyone understand the true reason behind this dissolution of the house. Today KP Sharma is addressing this rally."

SOT, Toya Nath Adhikari, Member of Nepal Communist Party (Nepali): "We are here to prove that KP Sharma Oli is the true leader who is representing Nepal Communist Party and his party only can lead this country."
